Exhibition: Van Gogh and Daubigny
From April 1st to October 29th 2023
This year, we are leaving our series of Daumier's lithographs exhibitions, and we are delighted to present an exhibition in line with this year's cultural season theme at Auvers: "The 70 days of Vincent in Auvers"
We started from the main element which linked Vincent Van Gogh to the Daubigny's family, I mean a painting Vincent was naming as "One of my most desired canvas". I'm talking about "Le Jardin de Daubigny", that Vincent wanted to give to Charles François Daubigny's widow. This is the garden of Daubigny's house, close to the station, where Marie Sophie was living.
This exhibition is not only a matter of showing a print of this painting, and the corresponding letters. It shows how Vincent was mentioning Daubigny in his extensive correspondence he mainly had with his brother, Theo, and with his friends. We are exhibiting works from Daubigny Vincent talked about, as well as quotations from Van Gogh related to Daubigny and we are telling few anectotes taken out of the family's circle for the occasion.

During the two days of Meet in the Gardens international event, and maybe later on for the Open Gardens event, come and visit Daubigny's Garden and discover works from José Keravis.

Graduated from the prestigious Boulle school, then an accomplished metalworker, José Keravis uses his know-how and his many experiences as a visual artist. An atypical creator, with amazing humility, he exhibited internationally from the 90s from his studio in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône, a true cave of treasures.
Paintings, erratic sculptures or short_lived installations, drawings, metal machines ... In his daily scribbled notebooks, we find his material for thinking, at the very origin of his creative process. Emotions and sensations projected into the work of the material resonate in his meaningful works.

Les musées donnent à voir quand l’atelier offre à rêver.
Il est l’antre de l’artiste. Là où il pense, travaille, crée et lutte. L’endroit où tout se passe.
L’atelier est habité de l’âme du peintre, comme un lieu sacré.
Faire résonner les mots de Zola inspirés par l’intransigeant et excessif Cézanne dans l’atelier de Daubigny décoré par les toiles marouflées de Corot ;
Quel décor plus beau et grandiose pouvait-on espérer pour faire entendre L’Œuvre, plus grand roman jamais écrit sur la peinture et la condition de l’artiste.
Daubigny serait certainement heureux de voir perpétuer sa volonté de faire de sa maison un lieu de rencontre et de création artistiques.
Nous envisageons cette lecture comme un moment suspendu, un voyage au temps de l’impressionnisme et l’opportunité unique de s’introduire dans l’atelier d’un grand peintre, de le voir et surtout de l’imaginer...
L’ŒUVRE d’Émile Zola raconte l’histoire d’un peintre génial qui ne saura pas vivre de son génie. Roman à clefs, l’Œuvre cache à peine Renoir, Manet, Zola lui-même et son ami d’enfance Paul Cézanne. L’adaptation mêle deux voix pour visiter l’absolu et les misères du monde de l’art à travers une histoire d’amour entre un peintre et son modèle.

À propos des artistes
Marion Lahmer, comédienne
Élève de Michel Galabru puis de Daniel Mesguich, elle est aujourd’hui sociétaire du Théâtre de la Huchette où elle joue La Leçon de Ionesco.
Cette année, elle a créé un seul en scène, "Le Nom sur le bout de la langue" de Pascal Quignard.
Elle chante aussi, tessiture soprano.

Christophe Mory
Auteur, éditeur, chroniqueur, critique, homme de radio et de télé, il a publié une vingtaine de livres et multiplie les lectures publiques avec cette « forme de pédagogie de l’enthousiasme » (Aragon) qui fait sa marque de fabrique.
